This page gives you a transparent view of what the Docentric CE team is working on and where we're headed. We organize planned work into three horizons: Now, Next, and Later so you always know what to expect.

FetchXML query as Data model's primary entity

Use FetchXML query as Data model's primary entity to optimize data retrieval, filtering and aggregations needed to generate your documents. On top of support for standard, custom, virtual and elastic tables, you can use custom FetchXML query as data source for your documents.

In Document setup's Data model tab, when creating a data model for primary table, you can add your custom FetchXML query using Select FetchXML query to begin action. Docentric CE validates FetchXML query and adds it to Data model as any other primary table, so it can be used during generation of DDSP, template design and document generation.

Use FetchXML query as a related table to your existing data model to optimize data retrieval, filtering and aggregations of related tables.

In Document setup's Data model, when adding related tables to your primary table, you can add your custom FetchXML query using Add related table, Add FetchXML action. Docentric CE validates your FetchXML query and looks for any conditions specified in it. If conditional statements exist in your FetchXML query, you can replace fixed condition parameters using Power FX expression, with dynamic values from your Data model.

Generate from multiple templates in one run

Run a document flow once to generate multiple documents using multiple Document Templates and/or Languages. Define different output formats or output filenames for each document.

In the Template and files step of Run document, you can add multiple templates that belong to selected document setup. For each added template select a language in which you want document to be generated. After language is selected, you can preview generated document in selected language.

Multiple document transformations

Apply transformations such as PDF encryption, password protection or package transformed or generated documents in ZIP file during single document run. Transformed document can afterwards be delivered to any of output destinations.

In the Transformation (new) step of Run Document, you can add multiple transformations such as encrypt PDF or package files in ZIP file. You can apply transformation to specific generated document (encrypt PDF) or multiple generated documents (package files).

Multiple output destinations in one run

Run a document flow once to deliver generated and/or transformed documents to multiple output destinations simultaneously.

In the Delivery step of Run document, you can add multiple output destinations to deliver your generated or transformed documents.

SharePoint output destination

Deliver generated documents directly to a SharePoint folder or document library as a built-in output destination.

In the Delivery step of Run document, on top of existing Download, Email and Note output destinations, you can deliver generated or transformed documents to SharePoint folder or document library. You can pick Dynamics 365 SharePoint destination if you are already using out-of-the-box SharePoint integration or you can pick custom SharePoint folder or document library where Docentric CE will store generated or transformed documents.

Custom labels and translations

Add labels and translate them to multiple languages for texts that do not exist in your Dataverse metadata. This is useful for translating texts that are used across templates, such as "Thank you for your business." or "Document prepared by" but are not part of table or field translations.

In Document setup's Labels (new) tab, you can define multiple labels and add translation for these labels. Labels, for languages you select while generating DDSP, will be included and you will be able use them when designing templates.

In Docentric Template Designer, bind Label tagging element to label data by selecting Custom data section in Source pane and selecting your custom label in Path pane of the value binding panel.

Label overrides for table and field names

Override table and field labels from Dataverse metadata with labels that better fit your needs. This is useful for changing field and table labels that are used across templates that don't fit your needs. For example, you may want "QuoteID" field to always be shown and translated as "Quote No." in your documents.

In Document setup's Data Model tab, when you select a table or field, you can override its label by picking one of existing labels or use Create label override from existing (metadata) label translation and change them in Document setup's Label (new) tab.

License management

Collect effective user count and receive in-app notifications for missing, expired, or near-expiry licenses.

In License page, you can use Collect user count action to have Docentric CE calculate your effective user count. This is useful when requesting new production license or renewing your existing license. User count information can be copied when requesting license and is also recorded in telemetry.

When your license is missing, expired or near expiry, notification messages are shown in Docentric CE to warn users with Docentric CE Maker and Docentric CE Administrator security roles of an action needed about license.

Let makers pre-configure Document Flows with static settings and dynamic Power FX rules, so end users get a simple, guided experience with no decisions to make about templates, transformations, or delivery.
